"Our goal as golf course designers is to design golf courses that artfully employ the unique characteristics of the natural terrain, while adhering to sensitive land management where both the environment and man can not only coexist but also thrive." - Ron Garl
Founded in 1977, Northdale Golf & Tennis Club was designed by legendary golf course architect Ron Garl. This former dairy farm was transformed with Mr. Garl's vision "to design and build a memorable course that challenges players to excel and that everyone can enjoy."
Northdale's championship course is an 18-hole, par-72 layout measuring 6,824 yards from the championship tees. Full of challenges for the more experienced golfer, Northdale is also forgiving enough to be enjoyable for players of all skill levels.
This classic Florida-style layout has only two parallel fairways, which offers golfers a relaxing experience. The well-manicured holes wind their way through 180 acres of land featuring Brushy Creek and unspoiled wooded boundaries. Crystalline spring-fed lakes are found on 11 holes, which are home to a host of native bird species.
At Northdale, you will enjoy outstanding course conditions throughout the year and CHAMPION Dwarf Bermudagrass greens, the putting surface of 12 PGA Tour venues including Pinehurst No. 2.
Hole #1 is a par-5 measuring 511 yards from the tips and 487 from the white tees. It is a relatively simple starting hole if you place your drive just to the right of the fairway bunker. Aggressive players can take a shot at the green in two, but most should lay up to the 100-yard marker. This leaves an easy shot into the green, a two-putt for par, and a great way to start your round.
Hole #2 is the toughest hole on the course. It is a par-4 measuring 402 yards from the tips. The length is not the difficulty of this hole; it is the carry of your second shot to a narrow green. Par is an excellent score on this hole.
Hole #5 is Northdale's signature par-3. Seemingly an island green with a bulkhead surrounding the front, there is no room for error on this scenic but demanding hole.
Hole #16 is a par-5, double dogleg with water on every shot. Drive short of the water and lay up 150 yards out. The green is surrounded by water but is a generous size.
With lush, wide-open fairways, large, inviting greens and natural surroundings, you will experience the best of Florida golf at Northdale.
